‘Smiles are free’ entrepreneurs set up shop on Highway 71 South

A classic lemonade and hot dog stand has emerged at the Park Rapids Middle School Apartments with a group of business kids, from left, Slaydon Bahner, 6; Ebony Cormier, 9; Lane Monaghan, 12, and Jazmyne Glinnon, 13, at the helm. “Manager” Lane came up with the idea, assisted by Ebony with Jazmyne assuming the role of organizer. Slaydon is the PR guy. Plans call for half the proceeds to be donated to the Headwaters Animal Shelter. Tuesday, their endeavor raised $33.50. “Smiles,” as their sign reports, “are free.”
