A major winter storm has caused significant power outages in the Itasca-Mantrap Cooperative service area.
As of Monday morning, approximately 2,900 Itasca-Mantrap members were without power, with the majority of the outages taking place north and east of Park Rapids, including major feeders from the Nevis and Mantrap substations.
Access to outage areas has been limited due to heavy snowfall and unplowed secondary roads. Line crews from Itasca-Mantrap are being assisted by neighboring cooperatives - Beltrami Electric, Clearwater-Polk Electric and Todd-Wadena Electric - and are working diligently to restore power as quickly as possible.
Itasca-Mantrap hopes to have the majority of the outages restored by the end of the day.
"Itasca-Mantrap appreciates your patience during this outage," said Jared Echternach, member services manager.
