Shelly Jo Bremel, 44, Laporte, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, June 27, 2013, following a courageous battle with liver cancer. Her faith during this battle was an inspiration to those around her.

She was born June 23, 1969, to Garland and Connie Cryer (Stange) and lived most of her life in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1987.

Shelly was preceded in death by her father, all of her grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.

Shelly leaves behind the following to mourn her death, her husband, Larry Laporte; mom, Connie and brother, Tim, both of Council Bluffs; brother, Kirk (Cathy) of Madison, Wis.; mother-in-law, Casey and stepdad, Skeeter Hamm, Akeley; father-in-law, Bob Bremel, Akeley; sister-in-law, Laura Johnson Knight (Dancy) of Nevis; brother-in-law, Lee Bremel (Sharon McKenzie); several aunts, uncles, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews (both biological and "adopted") that she loved; her church family and many friends, and her two cats, Little One and Snickers.

She was an amazing lady who portrayed great strength in spite of the challenges she faced, and she will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.

Funeral service: 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 2 at the Kabekona Free Methodist Church in Laporte.

Interment: 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
