Sharp named historical museum director
Margaret Sharp has assumed the director's role at the Hubbard County Historical Museum.
Growing up in Two Inlets, she's a Park Rapids Area High School graduate. She earned a college degree in social studies with a minor in history while attending Minnesota State University Moorhead and Bemidji State University.
She taught in a parochial school in Duluth and has coached speech in Park Rapids.
She plans to initiate a summer history book club for adults, which will include short novels and nonfiction, "to renew interest in American history."
She hopes to engage kids in a History Day workshop for grades 6-12 at the end of June, with more details to be announced. The workshop will be a kickoff for a statewide competition.
Sharp also intends to work toward preserving and maintaining the existing exhibits.
She replaces Karen Danks who resigned earlier this year.
