Senior Slam committee seeking donations for May 24 event

The Senior Slam, an event open to all Park Rapids Area High School Seniors, will take place Thursday, May 24 and go throughout the evening until 7 a.m. Friday, May 25. The kids will meet at Northern Pines Assembly Grounds and check in. They will board buses and go to the Character Challenge Course. After an evening at the Challenge Course (along with dinner and s'mores), they will again board busses to go to the Park Theater for a late movie. After the movie, they will be bussed back to Northern Pines for games, visiting and breakfast.

Car keys are collected and the seniors will not be able to leave this event until 7 a.m. Friday.

This event is being planned and hosted by parents of senior students. The mission at the Character Challenge Course is to provide first class experiences that will revolutionize the way they approach their relationships, vocation and difficult circumstances.

The event is offered as an alcohol free alternative to the more traditional "senior kegger." Although there is a minimal charge to attend, no student is turned away due to financial hardship and every effort is made to include all seniors.

Anyone interested in donating to this event may send checks to: Senior Slam, Park Rapids Area High School, 301 Huntsinger Ave., Park Rapids, MN 56470.
