Sebeka scores eight runs in seventh inning to rally for win
Sebeka scored eight runs with two outs in the seventh inning to defeat the Park Rapids fastpitch softball team 11-4 in the regular-season finale Friday.
The Trojans strung together six hits and two walks with two outs in the top of the seventh to rally for the win.
This game was close until the final inning.
Alyssa Carlson singled and scored on Olivia Vaadeland's RBI single as Park Rapids tied the game at 1-1 in the first.
After Sebeka scored twice in the third for a 3-1 lead, singles by Leeza Tostenson, Brie Warne and Shelby Weckwerth loaded the bases in the fourth. A sacrifice fly by Taylor Ondracek made it 3-2.
The Panthers took a 4-3 lead in the sixth on an error, a single by Warne, an RBI single by Weckwerth, a single by Lizzy Vaudrin and a bases-loaded walk by Carlson.
But the Trojans rallied in the seventh by connecting on seven of their 17 hits.
Weckwerth went 3 for 3 while Carlson and Warne each went 2 for 3 to pace Park Rapids' 11-hit attack. Warne took the loss, allowing seven runs on 13 hits. Vaadeland and Ashley Domino finished up.
Park Rapids ended the regular season with a 15-5 record and received the No. 2 seed in the north for the Section 8AA playoffs, which began Tuesday night. The Panthers hosted No. 7 Crookston in a first-round game. The north half of the section tournament resumes Thursday at Thief River Falls. The section semifinals will also be held at Thief River Falls next Tuesday.
