Schuldt seeking third consecutive trip to state cross-country meet
Bryon Schuldt enters his third season of cross-country running favored to capture his third all-state honor.
The Nevis senior won the Section 8A title last season and placed 12th at the state Class A boys meet for the second year in a row.
Nevis head coach Tom Stambaugh is confident Schuldt will repeat as an all-state runner and be among the favorites to win the state Class A title.
"Bryon should be able to contend for the state title," said Stambaugh. "I think there are five guys who can win state and Bryon is one of them. With running, the key is staying healthy and putting in the miles. We have been running about 60 miles a week. As a junior, he is ready for the bigger load. He is going to need to put that type of work in to run with the best."
In addition to Schuldt, freshman Jordan Feder will run varsity for the Tigers this season. Feder finished 89th at last year's section meet.
Freshman Chloe Johnson will be the lone member of the Nevis girls cross-country team competing on varsity this season.
"Both Jordan and Chloe will start running junior high races, but I think they can be running varsity meets by the end of the year," said Stambaugh. "I would hope both Jordan and Chloe could be up in the middle of the pack by the section meet."
