Schroeder earns medalist honors

Hunter Schroeder earned medalist honors with a 77 at Blueberry Pines as the Nevis boys golf team finished fifth in the third Mid-Minnesota Conference meet Friday.

Schroeder, who took first at the No. 1 position, earned five extra points for carding the low round. Chris Kirschman's runner-up 89 at the No. 4 player position and Mitch Rehkamp's 99 at the No. 5 spot led the Tigers to a 465 team score and 27 points. Rounding out the Tigers' scorecard were Adam Poole's 107 at the No. 2 spot, Kyle Magnuson's 97 at the No. 3 spot and Nick Rowland's 103 at the No. 6 position.

After three conference meets, Nevis has 87.5 points for fourth place. Pequot Lakes remains in first place with 144 points while Staples-Motley, which shot a meet-low 418, is in second place with 129.5 points. Crosby-Ironton moved into third place with 90 points.

Sam Coborn carded an 84 for fifth place at the No. 1 spot and Tony Schmid shot a 100 to finish fifth at the N. 6 spot to lead Park Rapids, which carded a 485 and earned 17.5 points.

Cole Tretbar's 98 at the No. 2 spot, Alex Holmen's 96 at the No. 3 spot, Gairett Johnson's 108 at the No. 4 spot and Sam Goebel's 107 at the No. 5 spot rounded out the Panthers' team score. Park Rapids is in seventh place after three meets with 47 points.

United North Central was led by Cody Bro-strom's 92 at the No. 2 spot and Lane Hillukka's 96 at the No. 4 spot. Mike Wing's 94, Tyler Meech's 96, Drew Maninga's 112 and Rory Allebach's 103 completed the Warriors' 481 team score. UNC received 15.5 points for a three-meet total of 38.

Schroeder, Cardinals lead way

Friday's meet at Blueberry Pines was also the Warriors Invitational as 12 teams competed.

Schroeder led the field with rounds of 39 and 38 for a 5-over par 77 as Nevis finished fifth with a 362. Staples-Motley claimed the team title with a 330.

Park Rapids finished ninth with a 378 while UNC was 10th with a 380.

Nevis slips to third place

Nevis, which finished second with 43 points in the first Mid-Minnesota Conference meet, slipped to third place in the overall standings with a 493 Thursday at The Preserve.

Hunter Schroeder and Michael Kempnich led the Tigers with 90s as Nevis earned 17.5 points for a two-meet total of 60.5 points.

Holmen's 87 and Coborn's 95 led the Panthers, who carded a 505 and received 17.5 points.

Wing's 95, Hillukka's 98 and Brostrom's 99 led UNC, which carded a 517 and received 13.5 points.

Pequot Lakes, led by Jonas Dale's 80, led the field with a 421 and 56.5 points.

Pequot Lakes wins team title

Pequot Lakes captured the team title in the invitational portion of Thursday's meet with a 329.

Nevis finished ninth with a 383, UNC was 10th with a 392 and Park Rapids finished 12th with a 395 in this 13-team meet.

Brainerd's Sean Halverson carded an even-par 72 to claim medalist honors.
