During the summer, area schools give away free lunch and breakfast to anyone 18 and younger.

The breakfast and lunch menus at Park Rapids Century School change every week throughout the summer. Fruits or vegetables, milk or juice and a main dish are served for a well rounded meal.

At the Park Rapids Century School, kids line up to get a tasty, healthy meal. Two main cooks are hired for the extra time spent at the school, and do a good job keeping the line moving smoothly.

Tom Marcussen, the food service director at the Century School, said there are about 25 more people every day this summer than last.

Breakfast is served from 8-9 a.m., and lunch is served from 11-12:30 p.m. at the Century School Cafetorium on Monday through Thursday until July 28.

Other surrounding schools also serve lunches during the summer such as Nevis and Menahga.

This program helps many people, not only because it's free, but because it's quick and easy for those who don't have enough time in the mornings to cook a healthy breakfast or lunch.
