School board to reveal budget, staff cuts
An initial proposed list of budget reductions, including staff cuts, for the 2009-10 school year will be presented Monday night at the Park Rapids School Board meeting.
The proposal is a collaboration between the administrators and will include certified staff (teachers and administration), said Superintendent Glenn Chiodo.
The school board will then review the proposed reductions and make a decision to approve the cuts at the April 20 meeting, he said.
"Either those reductions and/or any changes to those reductions," Chiodo said.
At a future meeting, other non-certified reductions will be proposed.
Chiodo would not offer any details about the proposed reductions - number of people or names. He said that in the past details of budget reductions were not printed in the newspaper before they were presented at a board meeting.
Staff members who are on the proposed list of cuts have been notified so they don't first hear about it after the meeting or read about it in the newspaper, Chiodo said.
The school board meeting begins at 6 p.m. Monday at the Frank White Education Center.
