Charges filed against family friend in kidnapping, murder of 5-year-old

School board extends Chiodo contract

Park Rapids Area School District approved an interim contract with Glenn Chiodo to continue on as superintendent as the district finishes its superintendent search.

The interim contract, which was approved Monday night, allows for Chiodo, who announced his retirement in May, to continue on through July and possibly part of August. Either party can leave the contract at any time.

The first round of interviews for superintendent candidates is Thursday, July 12 with school board members making site visits and conducting interviews in the ensuing days. The final round of interviews with candidates is slated for Tuesday, July 17.

In other business, the board:

n Approved hiring Chris Wagner as part time ECFE paraprofessional.

n Approved hiring Cory Leppanen as band director.

n Approved re-assigning Terry Schroeder as middle school EBD teacher for the 2012-13 school year.

n Approved hiring Tanya Peterson as school aged child care coordinator.

n Approved advertising for bakery and dairy bids.

n Recognized state participants in girls golf, girls track and speech.
