Saturday mail service won't end; Enterprise deliveries to continue as normal

Email News Alerts

Saturday mail service may have been resurrected by the U.S.Congress today.

Slated to end in August, the U.S. Postal Service announced that restrictive language in a congressional funding resolution forced the continuation of service on Saturdays, a day relied upon by many postal customers.

The USPS announced in February it would cease deliveries of first-class mail on Saturdays, reducing those deliveries to five days a week, to put a dent in a nearly $16 billion deficit.

The Enterprise comes in the mail Saturdays and Wednesdays. Until the USPS makes a final determination on delivery days, no changes in publication are being planned currently at the newspaper.
