Sandra Jeanne Hoffman Cressel, 71, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Walker, died Saturday, March 21, 2009.
She was born Oct. 4, 1937 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Clarence and Margaret Huston Hoffman. At the age of 12, her parents purchased a resort on Leech Lake near Walker, where she attended high school.
In April 1955, she met Lance Cressel of Park Rapids, who was in the Air Force and won his way to an assignment at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. They were married on Sept. 3, 1955 in Anchorage, Alaska, where they lived for three years.
He remained in the Air Force for 20 years, and he and his family were stationed at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, Altus AFB, Okla., Grand Forks AFB, N.D., and Ramey AFB, Puerto Rico. When he retired, he and his family moved to Fort Worth where they lived since September 1974.
She is survived by her husband; five children: Margaret (Robert) Burke, Lorie (Terry) Brewer, Cynthia (Caven) Broadwell, Christina (Richard) Joy, and Terry; a sister, JoAnne (Glenn) McCuen; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a 2-week-old great-great-grandchild; as well as many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, and a sister in law, Kathleen.
Mass of Christian Burial: 9 a.m. today (Wednesday), March 25 at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Interment: 11 a.m. at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
