Roma K. Volden, 95, died on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Moorhead.
Roma Gilbertson was born to Dinah Klaboe and Alfred Gilbertson on Oct. 7, 1912, on the Gilbertson family farm west of Audubon.
In 1931, Roma and Ole Volden were married. They had two children, Ronald and Diane. Ole passed away in 1966.
Roma worked at various places during her lifetime, including Swanson's Grocery and the Co-op Store, Audubon Hatchery, Audubon Public Schools, and was the assistant postmaster in Audubon until she retired. She also contributed the local news to the Detroit Lakes Record for many years. She entered Golden Living Center in 1998, and had lived there until her death.
Roma is survived by her daughter, Diane Hurner of Moorhead; brother, Lowell (Isabelle) Gilbertson of Henderson, Nev.; and a daughter-in-law, Helen Volden of Hamilton, Mont.; four grandsons; two granddaughters; 11 great grand children; three step-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband Ole (1966); son Ronald (2002); her parents; her brothers, Phillip, Wallace, and Alden; and her sisters, Adeline Wegner and Doris Luitjens.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8, at First Lutheran Church, Audubon. Arrangements were entrusted to Korsmo Funeral Service, Moorhead.
