Richard Henry Lundgren, 63
Richard Henry Lundgren, 63, of Park Rapids died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007 at St. Joseph's Area Health Services in Park Rapids.
He was born May 27, 1943 to Henry and Berniece (Benson) Schmidt in Clinton, IA. He was adopted by Robert Lundgren in 1948. He grew up in Clinton and graduated in 1961.
He married Mara Plaude Aug. 14, 1965 in Preston, IA. In 1967, he obtained a bachelor of science in education from Northeastern Missouri State University. He taught high school social studies in Atlantic, IA. He received a master's degree in school counseling and worked as a middle school counselor in Atlantic until his retirement in 1999. They moved to Park Rapids in 2001.
He was a member of the National Educators Association and Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Kristine (Stephen) Tost of Concord, NC and Maija (Cary) Nack of Morton, IL; sister, Janice (Charles) Schepler of Miles, IA; brother-in-law, Martin Plaude of Park Rapids; and five grandchildren.
Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m. today (Saturday) at Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids with Pastor Gene Broughton and Rev. Kathryn Rathman co-officiating. Eulogists will be Maija Nack and Kristine Tost. Soloist will be Brenda Carpenter singing "Borning Cry" and "There is a Redeemer." Congregational hymns will be "Here I Am," "As The Deer," "Children of the Heavenly Father" and "Amazing Grace."
Honorary casketbearers: Del Neary, Sid Winchell, Larry Luett, Richard Johannsen, Merlin Mikkelsen and Allen Kelley.
Active casketbearers: Robert Schepler, Robert Schmidt, Gere Huebner, Cliff Tweedale and Krisjanis Plaude.
Interment: Bethel Lutheran Cemetery near Dorset.
