The Housing and Redevelopment Authority of Park Rapids has teamed up with the Center for Energy and Environment, Minnesota Power and Minnesota Energy Resources Corporation, to offer Park Rapids homeowners the "Green Park Rapids Residential Energy Program." This full service residential energy program was designed to help Park Rapids homeowners save money and energy in their homes.

The program will also provide participants with the tools and financing necessary to make larger investments such as insulation, sealing bypasses and installation of new windows.

The program will provide the following:

-A free educational workshop to teach homeowners simple techniques to save money in their homes;

-Materials to include low-flow showerheads, compact fluorescent light bulbs and hot water heater pipe insulation;

-Customized home energy visits from qualified professionals who will identify additional ways for residents to save in their homes, including a blower door test. Up to $300 in services and materials for a co-pay of $40.

-Personalized energy use inventory for the last 12 months and feedback for the next 12 months to help homeowners understand their energy usage;

-Information on financing, incentives, stimulus funding and rebates, for those wishing to complete larger project such as insulation or a furnace replacement.

Reserve a spot at the workshop by contacting Sari Mabbett at 732-4158 or hrapr@unitelc.com.
