Rally MN to display, race in Park Rapids area Saturday
Park Rapids Minnesota PO Box 111 56470

Rally Minnesota racing will be in the Park Rapids area this weekend.

Rally features real cars racing against the clock on closed-off sections of real roads. Fans line the road, mere feet from the sliding, jumping and gravel spraying action. Fans can also freely check out the service areas where drivers and their teams repair the cars.

The cars will be displayed on Main Avenue Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21.

The east side of Main on the first and second blocks will be closed off. The street will be open to traffic on the west side at all times.

Several locations have been designated as spectator locations for the racing.

Friday spectator locations

Parc Exposé - 4 to 6 p.m. All cars will be on public display in downtown Park Rapids. Take Highway 34 one block west of U.S. Highway 71 then turn left on Main Avenue. It's the best chance to meet the drivers in person.

Strawberry Mountain - 7:05 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. A crazy hard uphill right tests the drivers both before and after dark. Take Highway 200 west from U.S. Highway 71. Continue seven miles west of Zerkel to mile marker 68. The next left is Strawberry Mountain. Turn left on Strawberry Mountain and take it four miles south to the spectator area.

Anchor Hill - 8 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. Drivers handle a medium right-hander with bad sight lines just before dark, then return in the opposite direction just after dark. Take Highway 113 west from U.S. Highway 71. After 13 miles, turn right on Clearwater County 39. In a mile, turn right on Anchor Hill. Take Anchor Hill east 6 miles to the spectator point.

Itasca Service - 8:30 p.m. Watch up close as all cars fuel and make repairs at the Rock Creek Store at the intersection of Highway 200 and Clearwater County 2.

VIP seating is available to volunteers, who will get a private viewing spot. Simply show up at the C'Mon Inn Friday between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to register. Pre-register online at http://bit.ly/rmnvip
