A rain/snow mix tonight into morning will test the driving skills of the Hubbard County region.

But we won't get socked by the storm bearing down on the Dakotas and Red River Valley, said National Weather Service meteorologist Tom Grafenauer.

"Hubbard County is on the edge of that precipitation," he said. "You may get 1 to 2 inches when all is said and done."

Accumulations of three or more inches have been forecast for widespread areas west of Hubbard County.

"With the warm surface temperatures, we'll see how much will accumulate," Grafenauer said.

In any event, he said the precipitation, like early Saturday morning, will begin as rain and change over to snow, causing icy roadways by morning.

The region has a 70 percent chance of precipitation late tonight and lesser degrees through the rest of the week.

Here is the extended forecast:

Thursday: A chance of snow before 1 p.m., then a chance of rain and snow. Cloudy, with a high near 39. East southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Thursday night: A chance of rain and snow before 1 a.m., then a chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around 32. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday: A chance of snow before 1 p.m., then a chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Northwest wind between 3 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 47.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 56.

Sunday night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.

Monday: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54.

Monday night: A slight chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37.

Tuesday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48.
