Pursuit lasts more than 100 miles
Three Bismarck-area teenagers were apprehended Tuesday in Barnes County after they were pursued by law enforcement for more than 100 miles, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The pursuit began in the Mandan area, the patrol said, and continued into the Jamestown and Valley City, N.D., areas around 5:14 a.m. Tuesday.
The teenagers included two 17-year-old Bismarck boys and a 17-year-old Lincoln, N.D., girl.
Valley City police had deployed a tire deflation device on Interstate 94 near exit 288, about two miles west of the town. The vehicle the suspect was driving, a 2002 Chevrolet pickup, slowed to about 40 miles per hour after it ran over the device.
The pickup struck a guard rail near mile marker 291 and stopped. The vehicle sustained minor damage, the patrol said.
Two of the teenagers are being held in Fargo. One is being held at Attendant Care in Jamestown.
