PUC extends comment period for oil pipeline

By Sarah Smith

The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission has extended the public comment period for the Enbridge Sandpiper pipeline, which is projected currently to run through Hubbard County.

The new deadline is May 30, 2014, at 4:30 p.m.

Numerous groups, including the Hubbard County Board of Commissioners, had requested an extension until Aug. 1 to allow summer residents the ability to comment.

Topics open for comment at this time are:

n Are there any alternative routes or route segments that should be considered?

n What human and environmental impacts should be studied in the comparative environmental analysis?

n Are there any specific methods to address these impacts that should be studied in the comparative environmental analysis?

Comments may be filed to larry.hartman@state.mn.us or mailed to Larry Hartman, Environmental Review Manager, Minnesota Department of Commerce, 85 7th Place East, Suite 500, St. Paul MN 55101. Please include the PUC Docket Numbers (13-474) in all communications.
