Park Rapids Area High School actors will perform the one-act play, "Property Rites," during sub-section 24-A competition beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29 in the high school auditorium. The plot involves Kyle Macmanus who's invested in a high tech work of art - a sculpture of human like figures programmed to perform movements, monologues and much more. But just when Kyle is about to make a sale, the sculpture "malfunctions" and thus begins the figures' fatal race against their owner's final destructive solution. The actors include, front, from left, Jacob Froelich, Kaylee Hulland, Luke Swenson, Sarah Schultz, Jason Dennis and Paula Guajardo, middle, Hannah Fischer, Emily Grimes, Kelsy Adolphson and Eryn Simpson, and back, Jesseca Pritchett, Sophie Shogren, Alana McKeever and Danielle Hill. An open rehearsal will be performed at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28 with the public welcome at no charge. Actors will arrive from Nevis, Laporte, Pequot Lakes, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley and Sebeka to compete Saturday. The winning play/actors will head to Perham for sections. The last two years, Park Rapids has taken first at sub-sections and sections, earning stars at state level. Park Rapids holds the state record for taking one-act plays to state. Julie Kjenaas directs the production; Jonathan Harrison is technical director.
