Maria Pretzer, a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus (1996) and William Mitchell College of Law (2000), has joined the Peloquin Beck law firm as an associate.
Pretzer brings a background in administrative law, having worked for government agencies, prior to the move to Park Rapids last year.
"This is the first time I've been in private practice," she said. "I'm very excited about this. It's a completely different experience, to be part of a small business."
She practices in a variety of areas, including family law and civil litigation as well as probate and real estate work.
Prior to her and husband Bobby's move to Park Rapids, Pretzer worked for the Honorable Brown Rosenbaum in Hennepin County Court and as staff attorney for the Minnesota Office of Administrative Hearings, as well as a consultant for the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
She currently serves on the governing Council of the Administrative Law section of the Minnesota State Bar Association. She contributes to the MSBA's Bench & Bar magazine on issues of administrative law.
The firm has offices in Park Rapids, Perham and New York Mills.
Pretzer is based in Park Rapids, available Monday through Friday. Phone 237-2200.
The Pretzers and family dog Yoshi, a Shiba Inu, reside on the banks of Straight River south of Park Rapids.
