Ponsford man charged after allegedly entering couple's hotel room, urinating on wall in front of them and baby
FARGO - A 35-year-old man was jailed Tuesday night after police say he barged into an occupied room at a hotel here and urinated on the wall, according to a criminal complaint filed in Cass County District Court.
Robert Eugene Butcher, of Ponsford, Minn., has been charged with criminal trespassing, the complaint filed Tuesday says. He is being held in Cass County Jail on $3,000 bail, according to court records.
Police say Butcher entered an unlocked hotel room across the hall from the room in which he was staying at the Rodeway Inn on South University Drive and began urinating on the wall while the occupants - a couple and their 1-year-old son - watched.
As the husband was escorting Butcher out of the room, he noticed a syringe drop from Butcher's coat pocket, the police report says. The syringe was taken as evidence and sent to a lab for analysis, the report says.
The couple told police the incident "offended, alarmed, and annoyed both of them," the report states.
Butcher's next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 13.
