Police investigating armed robbery Wednesday night

Armed robbers took an undisclosed amount of money from Orton's convenience store in Park Rapids Wednesday night.

The Park Rapids Police Department is investigating new leads from tips received, chief Terry Eilers reported Friday.

According to Eilers, two people entered Orton's at about 9 p.m., put a handgun to the cashier's head and demanded money from the till.

The pair, whose heads were covered, left in a vehicle described as light colored or yellow, and a Mercury Cougar or similar model.

Police followed the vehicle's tracks from Orton's through the Calvary Lutheran Church parking lot and headed south.
