Police arrest Grand Forks man accused of assualting 12-year-old girl, then stealing her bike
An 18-year-old Grand Forks man was arrested Monday in connection with an assault and robbery of a 12-year-old girl last weekend, police said today.
Thomas Allen Lipsh was arrested about 4 p.m. Monday and charged with assault and robbery and is being held at the Grand Forks County Correctional Center, officials said.
At about 1 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of a robbery and assault at the corner of Third Avenue South and Belmont Road. The 12-year-old victim said a man assaulted her and took her bicycle. A man driving buy the incident chased the suspect in his vehicle for about three blocks. The suspect then got off the bike and fled on foot. The suspect was described as between 17 to 25 years old, 5'7" to 5'10" with black hair, mustache, goatee and with an athletic build.
During its investigation, police received several calls from the public that aided in the arrest of Lipsh, police said today.
Assault is a Class A misdemeanor and robbery is a Class B felony.
