Planes take to the sky at annual Fun Fly

Airplane enthusiasts and spectators headed out to the annual Headwaters R/C Flying Club Fun Fly Saturday and Sunday. At left, Larry Sowden, of Park Rapids, flies a P51 Mustang WW II replica plane. A variety of planes to the sky, although it was windy Sunday. Vice President Tom Stennes said it's often windy in this area so pilots learn how to fly in the wind. Anyone interested in learning how to fly R/C planes is welcome to join the club at the airfield Wednesdays. The club meets each Wednesday night at the airfield, located 4 miles west on state Highway 34 and south on Co. Rd. 109.
