Piano prodigy to perform July 10 at Hubbard UMC
Eight-year-old Emma Taggart will present a piano recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 10 at the Hubbard United Methodist Church with the public invited to attend.
A classically trained pianist who started lessons at age 4, Emma has been invited to attend her third International Music Festival in Norma, Italy in August. While there she will perform a solo recital and study with master pianists from Spain, Italy, Russia and the United States.
Her recital at Hubbard United Methodist Church will feature music by Bach, Mozart, Schumann, Chopin, Debussy and Gillock.
Last summer, Emma was invited to the Varallo International Piano Festival in Italy, where she studied with some of the top master pianists in the world and was awarded the Varallo International Piano Festival Performance Award.
In 2009, at age 6, she was the youngest pianist invited to play in the Gabala International Piano Festival in Azerbaijan. She did very well and as a result, was one of two participants in the festival invited to play at Steinway Hall in New York City.
In the summer of 2009, Emma made it to the semi-finals in the 12 and under division of the Minnesota State Fair talent show. She won first place in the 13 and under division of the Epiphany Springfest in 2009 and 2010, and first place in the open division in 2011.
Her second CD, "Emma Taggart: Year Eight," includes more than 40 minutes of classical music from her award winning solo repertoire.
Emma is the granddaughter of Ron and Margi Taggart of Park Rapids.
