Nick Bahls hit five 3-pointers as Perham jumped out to a 49-9 lead and the Yellowjackets shot 65 percent from the field for the game to spark an 83-29 win.

Bahls hit three 3-pointers and Hunter Salathe and Sam Muer had two layups apiece as Perham jumped out to a 19-2 lead with 12:37 to play in the first half.

After a three-point play by Rilee Johnson and a layup by Derek Porozinski made it 19-7 at the 11:11 mark, the Yellowjackets went on a 17-0 run to build a 36-7 lead with 5:29 to play in the first half. Two layups each by Salathe and Muer and a 3-pointer by Bahls sparked that run.

Bryce Brovitch scored off a rebound to end that spurt, but the Yellowjackets followed with a 13-0 run to build a 49-9 advantage with 2:33 to play in the first half. Layups by Tyler Glines and Eli Beachy started the run while a three-point play and 3-pointer by Bahls capped the run.

Park Rapids followed with an 8-2 run as Johnson hit three free throws, Zach Jewison made two free throws and Tyler McCollum had a layup to make it 51-17 before a 3-pointer by Jamie Heitala at the buzzer gave Perham a 54-17 cushion at the break.

Perham opened the second half with a 15-3 run as layups by Salathe and Beachy, a 3-pointer by Bahls, and jumpers by Beachy and Salathe pushed the advantage to 69-20 with 13:23 to play. Jordan McCollum hit a 3-pointer for the Panthers during that stretch.

A three-point play by Jewison and a layup by Tyler McCollum were the only field goals for the Panthers the rest of the way.

Bahls finished with 21 points, Salathe had 15 points and Beachy added 11 points for the Yellowjackets, who made 30 of 46 shots in improving to 10-4 on the season.

The Panthers shot only 25 percent from the field, including 1 for 11 on 3-pointers, in falling to 8-4.
