Perham's pitching shuts out Panthers
Park Rapids managed only two runs in dropping a Mid-State Conference baseball doubleheader at Perham Tuesday.
Cody Schirmers was hit by a pitch, Tucker Coborn singled, Kevin Vaadeland walked, Kevin McMorrow was hit by a pitch and Dan Pike walked as the Panthers claimed a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the first game.
The Panthers wouldn't score again the rest of the day as Perham followed a 4-2 victory with a 3-0 win.
Perham tied the first game with two runs in the bottom of the first and scored two more runs in the second to win the opener.
Dylan Walsh went 2 for 4 as Park Rapids stranded 12 runners on base. Coborn took the loss.
In the second game, the Panthers managed only four hits and Perham scored three times in the fifth inning to complete the sweep.
McMorrow gave up eight hits for the loss as Park Rapids fell to 4-4 in conference play and 4-8 overall.

Cloquet walks by Panthers
Cloquet turned six walks into seven first-inning runs to defeat the Panthers 12-1 in five innings Monday at Cloquet.
Four more walks led to four more runs in the second as Cloquet won via the 10-run rule despite having only five hits.
Justin Peterson walked and scored on Pike's single in the second to account for the Panthers' only run.
