A 36-6 run to end the first half and a 32-6 run to open the second half sparked Perham to an 81-23 win over the Park Rapids boys basketball team Tuesday night at the Area High School gym.

Twelve different players scored for the Yellowjackets, the defending state Class AA champions who are rated No. 4 in this week's state poll.

Baskets by Chris Goplerud, Tyler McCollum and Kyle Goplerud kept the Panthers within 11-7 before Perham used a pair of 3-pointers by Jordan Cresap and a 3-pointer and three field goals by Jordan Anderson to build a 47-13 advantage at the half.

A 3-pointer by Anderson and two 3-pointers by Cresap pushed the Yellowjackets' lead to 60-15 with 13:40 to play. A layup by Kyle Goplerud at the 13:05 mark ended that run.

Three-pointers by Eli Beachy and Jacob Anderson helped Perham extend its lead to 81-19. Jordan Bergquist and Rilee Johnson scored off rebounds to conclude the scoring for the Panthers.

Zach Gabbard, who collapsed during a game against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton almost a year ago, entered the game with 1:36 to play. Gabbard received a standing ovation in his return to the court after a year of recovery and rehabilitation.

Cresap (18) and Jordan Anderson (17) led a balanced attack as the Yellowjackets improved to 12-1 on the season.

Kyle Goplerud (9) and Chris Goplerud (4) combined for 13 points to lead the Panthers, who fell to 1-11. Johnson had five rebounds and Bergquist grabbed four rebounds while Chris Goplerud and McCollum had two steals each to lead Park Rapids.
