Pearl Langenberg Winter 104, died Saturday evening, Jan. 18, 2014 at Riverview Manor, in Pleasant Valley, Iowa after a long and glorious life.
Pearl Irene Wray was born Feb. 13, 1909 in Johnson County, Iowa near North Liberty. She was the daughter of Carson and Eva Lentz, Wray. Pearl attended the North Liberty Schools.
She married Louis Harold Langenberg Sept. 5, 1927 at St. Mary's Rectory in Iowa City. He would precede her in death on March 19, 1939.
Pearl Wray Langenberg married Henry (Hank) Winter Oct. 12, 1947 at the United Methodist Church in North Liberty. The couple lived in Cedar Rapids until 1958 when they purchased Pine Springs Resort in Osage. The couple sold the resort in 1973 and moved to Park Rapids. Hank died in December of 1999.
Pearl returned to Lisbon, Iowa to be near her family in 2000. She later moved to Luther Manor in Bettendorf in 2006 and lived independently until the last two months of her life. She was a member of the Happy Homemakers and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Pearl is survived by two children, Louis (Laverta) Langenberg, Lisbon, Iowa and Doris McFarland, Davenport, Iowa; three daughters-in-law, Peg Langenberg, Gwen Langenberg and Karole Winter, Brainard; 21 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by two husbands; three sons, Richard, Kenneth and Gary; two brothers; an infant sister, and a great-granddaughter, Kristina Lynn.
Funeral service: 11 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 22 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, Iowa. Rev. Al Polito will officiate.
Visitation: 9 a.m. at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, Iowa.
Interment: Ridgewood Cemetery, North Liberty, Iowa.
