Pearl Lillian Hansen, the daughter of Hans and Alice (Lerud) Hansen, was born Febuary 28, 1919. She grew up in Detroit Lakes, where she attended local schools and following her graduation from high school, Pearl went to Minneapolis Beauty School. After graduating from beauty school, she returned to Detroit Lakes and with her business partner, the late Gudren Olson, operated the Charm Beauty Salon.

On June 11, 1948, Pearl married Duane Lidstrom, and they started their family. Pearl was extremely talented and enjoyed crafts of all kinds, including furniture refinishing, ceramics, painting, sewing, knitting and making braided wool rugs. She entered many of her rugs in the Becker County Fair, and brought home blue ribbons and championship awards.

Pearl was a member of the Congregational Church in Detroit Lakes for over 50 years, and took part in activities such as teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir. She also enjoyed playing whist and bridge, and was active in several card-playing groups with friends. Pearl took pride and joy in her three children and their accomplishments in life.

Paul, the eldest has a degree in medicine and serves as the director of the White Mountain Mental Health Center in Littleton, N.H. Pearl's daughter Marilyn Larson is a graduate of North Dakota State University in Fargo, and taught home economics in the Cloquet school system until her retirement. The youngest of her three children is Joel, who is married and living in Houston County, 12 miles from Caledonia, Minn. He restores and refinishes Steinway pianos and has a wide reputation as being one of the best in his field.

Besides her three children, Paul, Marilyn and Joel, Pearl will be remembered and missed by her loving husband of 60 years, Duane Lidstrom of Detroit Lakes; along with seven grandchildren, one sister, Nell Rydberg of Fargo, and several nieces and nephews. Her parents preceded her in death.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Congregational Church of Detroit Lakes-United Church of Christ. There will be visitation at the church from noon until the start of services.

The David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes is assisting the family with arrangements. An online guest book is available at www.daviddonehower.com.
