Park Rapids student completes online high school
Katrina Boyd of Park Rapids was among the first-ever class of students to graduate from Insight School of Minnesota, an online public high school.
Although Boyd and her classmates took their coursework in a new, non-traditional way, they celebrated their achievement with a traditional ceremony. Boyd was among the students who received diplomas with caps and gowns and family and friends in June.
Boyd was able to juggle work and school while being enrolled at Insight and the flexibility allowed her to earn an income while working towards her diploma.
"I liked the freedom that came along with it," she said. "Being able to work during the day was really nice."
Now that she has graduated, Boyd plans to attend Minnesota State Community and Technical College and she already has an idea for a career path.
"I will be taking business courses so one day I can own my own pet store," she said.
Insight School of Minnesota is a full-time, diploma granting, online public high school that is tuition-free for Minnesota residents.
