Park Rapids man gets 180 days in Becker County DWI case
A Park Rapids man was sentenced last week in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of first degree driving while intoxicated.
Jonathon Richard, Nauber, 25, of 300 W. 8th St., Park Rapids, was ordered to serve 36 months in prison, stayed on conditions including up to seven years of supervised probation, completion of a 180-day jail sentence and payment of $1,615 in court fines and fees, for which he was authorized to do community service in lieu of cash payment.
A second charge of felony DWI, along with related charges of misdemeanor motor vehicle tampering and gross misdemeanor driving after license cancellation, were dismissed.
The charges against Nauber stemmed from a June 17 incident in Becker County, in which Nauber allegedly took a vehicle that didn't belong to him out for a ride while the owner was attending a bonfire. He later returned the vehicle undamaged, but when he was approached by law enforcement officers for questioning, he appeared intoxicated, and failed field sobriety tests administered at the scene. He later refused to take a blood test.
