Not even the best offensive production of the season could lead the Park Rapids girls basketball team to its first victory of the season.

The Panthers hit a season high for points, but fell to 0-8 with a 53-51 loss to Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley in the third-place game of the Pelican Rapids tournament last Wednesday night.

The Panthers led at halftime for the first time this season, but CGB outscored the Panthers 30-22 in the second half for the win.

Ashley Gilsdorf (14), Molly Montonye (11) and Savanna Sullivan (10) hit double figures to lead CGB, which improved to 1-4.

Grace Bateman, Alyssa Carlson and Olivia Vaadeland scored 11 points apiece to lead the Panthers, who grabbed a season-high 44 rebounds while tallying a season-low 12 turnovers. Vaadeland and Ashley Domino grabbed 10 rebounds each while Carlson had five assists.

Panthers fall in first game

Pelican Rapids jumped out to a 33-5 lead at the half en route to a 64-18 victory over the Panthers in the tournament opener last Tuesday night.

Mack Strand (11), Anna Skow-Anderson (11) and Kristin Haugen (10) scored in double figures to lead Pelican Rapids.

Anna Grimes led the Panthers in points (5) and rebounds (7) while Lydia Lutz had three steals.
