Park Rapids girls finish third at Fergus Falls

Lydia Lutz and Isaac Overmyer finished in the top-six spots in leading the Park Rapids girls and boys cross-country teams at Thursday's John Hermes Invitational at Perham.

Lutz covered the 4,000-meter course in 15:32 to finish fifth as the Panthers finished third in the girls meet with 97 points. Alexandria won the girls title with 48 points while Bemidji was second in this 14-team meet with 83 points. Alexandria's Jamie Piepenburg led the way with a winning time of 14:33.

Overmyer clocked a 17:38 on the boys 5,000-meter course to finish sixth overall in 17:38. That helped the Panthers place ninth with 215 points. Bemidji won the boys title with 52 points while Detroit Lakes was second out of 13 teams with 66 points. Little Falls' Preston Zimny took first in 17:02.

Shelby Pierce (14th in 16:39) and Summer Ellefson (16th in 16:44) also finished in the top-20 spots in the girls race. Rounding out the Panthers' team score were Megan Olson (32nd in 17:24) and Lora Remus (35th in 17:28). Kaylee Hilmanowski (51st in 18:26) and Morgan Olson (65th in 19:00) also ran varsity for the Panthers.

Jake Waggoner (46th in 19:01), Tanner Otterness (58th in 19:36), Ryan McBrady (66th in 20:06), Nate Carlson (71st in 20:33) and Jacob Hays (76th in 21:07) rounded out the varsity squad for the boys.

Leading the Panthers in the junior varsity race were Brad Eischens (27th in 20:16), Austin Carlson (36th in 21:03), Nathanael Rairdon (53rd in 23:00), Matt Konshok (55th in 23:13), Cody Brumbaugh (56th in 23:20), Adam Mackley (61st in 24:11) and Ben Kading (65th in 25:54) for the boys and Abby Mueller (sixth in 18:42) for the girls.

Jacob Bridgman (41st in 13:51), Cole Coborn (44th in 13:53) and Zach Nelson (106th in 16:40) ran for the Panthers in the boys 3,200-meter race.
