Park Rapids Chamber of Commerce
Welcome year round
The inviting Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce Wayside Rest Complex is located east of Highway 71, .65 mile south of the junction of state Highways 71 and 34.
The wayside rest, completed in 2005, is a result of a cooperative partnership among the Minnesota Department of Transportation, city of Park Rapids, Hubbard County and Chamber.
In addition to chamber office and meeting room space, the center features a 24-hour lobby/information area with a 24-hour lodging information kiosk, public restrooms and other amenities for visitors inside the facility. Outside, the parking area can accommodate 32 cars and recreational vehicles and trucks. The grounds offer shade, picnic tables, sidewalks and access to All-Veterans Memorial Park.
The Chamber serves as a central source of information on everything from a vacation and what to do on rainy days to the community and resources that are available for business and economic development.
The Park Rapids Lakes Area, Loon Capital of the USA, is a vacation paradise. Hundreds of pristine lakes welcome an abundant loon population each spring.
Visitors also will find thousands of acres of forest and a dozen charming communities where boating, sailing, biking, snowmobiling, off-highway vehicle riding, fishing, bird watching, hiking, camping, shopping, antiquing, golfing and more make Park Rapids a phenomenal vacation destination and an ideal place to live.
Walk barefoot across the Mississippi headwaters and explore small towns where you can park almost anywhere, walk safely, find charming architecture and visit antique shops, art galleries and local museums. Pick up a Loon Call newspaper, learn more about Park Rapids historic downtown and enjoy a Main street like no other, lined with shops, coffee shops, restaurants and more.
Drive the Lake Country Scenic Byway. Natural beauty awaits in forests exploding in vibrant colors and breath taking views of flowing rivers and pristine lakes. Choose from resorts, motels, campgrounds, and bed and breakfasts and dine at interesting eating establishments.
Perhaps, best of all, interact with the nicest, friendliest and most helpful people you could ever hope to meet. Today, its common for resorts to be welcoming their fourth generation of families. Resort guests keep coming back to share some of the same experiences that drew the original settlers: a glimpse of an eagle or the northern lights, a pan of good fish, the haunting call of the loon and the scent of fresh pines in the air.
The Chamber has activities and itineraries to suit every vacationers needs. For more information or a free Discovery Guide, visit or call the Chamber at 732-4111, toll free at 800-247-0054 or go to the Chamber Website at
