Park Rapids breaks March record high temperatures

We experienced a blend of clouds and some sunshine around the state on Wednesday. Despite the clouds, Park Rapids did manage to still break the record high for that date. Park Rapids hit 68 degrees and that beat the old record. Average highs now are in the upper 50s for the area. Some rain moved across the region overnight. The heaviest rain fell to our south.

Late Wednesday into Thursday, we had an increase in cloud cover and some rain pushed across the state. Some spotty fog was also reported around the state due to all the moisture in the lower levels of the atmosphere.

More rain fell during the day on Thursday across parts of central and north central Minnesota. This rain is certainly needed to help with the fire danger concerns around the state. Up to a half inch of rain was possibly by Thursday night. Highs on Thursday were in the 60s. More record high temperatures fell across the Upper Midwest. Park Rapids hit 64 degrees on Thursday and beat the old record of 55 degrees in 2003.

Friday, more rain and record temperatures fell across the state. Lingering scattered showers were possible for Friday, but it was very light.

Drier air started moving in Saturday and the weekend. Highs on Saturday once again reached near 70 degrees as our record warmth continued. A more active weather pattern will return for Monday and Tuesday and we could see some severe weather by Monday night.

Have a wonderful weekend.
