After these two rivals skated to a 1-1 tie earlier in the season, the winner of this game would earn the No. 4 seed and host the other in a Section 8A quarterfinal game when the playoffs begin Feb. 6.

Thanks in part to Johnson’s 16 saves through two scoreless periods, the Panthers prevailed to earn a home playoff game.

Abby Fischer and Kendra Dresow received assists as Vaudrin scored on a breakaway 3:35 into the third period. That would prove to be the game-winner as Dresow’s goal into an empty net with: 05 showing sealed the win.

The win lifted Park Rapids to 2-5-1 against section teams and 8-10-1 overall while the Pirates fell to 1-5-1 in the section and 5-13-1 overall.
