David Dirks and Andy Waller combined on a two-hitter as the Panthers won the opener 6-1. Jordan McCollum and Kyle Goplerud combined on a four-hitter in leading Park Rapids to a 13-0 win in five innings in the second game.

In the home opener, Dirks’ RBI double in the first and Rilee Johnson’s RBI single in the second gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead.

Singles by Josh Severtson and Dirks set up a two-run double by Drew Bade as the Panthers claimed a 4-0 lead in the third.

After C-I scored a run in the fifth, Severtson singled and scored on Bade’s RBI single in the bottom of the inning.

Doubles by Kody Walsh and Zach Eystad accounted for the Panthers’ final run in the sixth.

Severtson went 2 for 3 with three runs, Dirks went 2 for 2 and Bade went 2 for 3 with three RBI to lead the Panthers’ 11-hit attack.

Dirks picked up the win, allowing one run on one hit over the first four innings. Waller entered in the fifth and gave up one hit in three innings of relief for the save.

In the second game, McCollum allowed four hits and struck out eight over the first four innings for the win while Goplerud pitched a scoreless fifth.

The Panthers scored all the runs they would need in the first on a single by Severtson, an RBI single by Goplerud and an RBI double by Johnson.

Singles by Tyler McCollum, Jordan McCollum, Eystad, Goplerud, Johnson and Brad Eischens sparked a seven-run second inning.

RBI singles by Eystad and Goplerud and an error led to the Panthers’ final four runs in the third.

The Panthers pounded out 13 hits with Goplerud going 3 for 4 with three RBI, Eystad going 2 for 4 and Johnson going 2 for 3. Eystad, Severtson, Goplerud and Walsh scored two runs apiece as the Panthers improved to 4-0 on the season.
