     The Park Rapids baseball team earned a share of the Mid-State Conference title in impressive fashion by dominating a doubleheader against Crosby-Ironton Tuesday at Crosby.

     The Panthers belted out 43 hits and scored 46 runs to rout the Rangers by scores of 25-0 and 21-0. Both games ended after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

     In the first game, the Panthers scored nine runs in the second inning, five runs in the third inning and 11 runs in the fourth inning.

     Singles by Rilee Johnson and Derek Porozinski, an RBI single by Jon Burlingame, a two-run single by Tyler McCollum, a single by Brad Eischens, an RBI single by Jordan McCollum, a two-run double by Josh Severtson, and singles by Drew Bade and Porozinski sparked the nine-run second.

     A single by Chase Brand, a double by Jordan McCollum, a two-run single by Severtson, an RBI double by Porozinski, and an RBI single by Burlingame produced the five runs in the third.

     The Panthers sent 15 batters to the plate in the fourth with a single by Sam Ness, an RBI triple by Jordan McCollum, an RBI double by Severtson, an RBI single by Bade, an RBI triple by Johnson, an RBI double by Porozinski, an RBI single by Connor Byer, an RBI single by Eischens, an RBI single by Jordan McCollum, an RBI double by Severtson and a two-run double by Bade leading the way.

     Jordan McCollum went 4 for 5 with four runs and three RBI, Severtson went 4 for 5 with four runs and six RBI, Bade went 3 for 5 with three runs and three RBI, Porozinski went 4 for 5 with three runs and Burlingame went 2 for 2 with three RBI to lead the Panthers’ 25-hit attack.

     Jordan McCollum didn’t allow a hit over four innings for the win while Burlingame pitched a perfect fifth as the two combined on a no-hitter.

     In the second game, the Panthers sent 16 batters to the plate and scored 13 runs in the second to spark another rout.

     After Jordan McCollum singled and scored on Johnson’s sacrifice fly in the first, a single by Burlingame, RBI singles by Eischens and Jordan McCollum, a two-run double by Severtson, an RBI single by Bade, a two-run triple by Porozinski, an RBI single by Burlingame, a two-run single by Ness, and an RBI double by Jordan McCollum pushed the lead to 14-0.

     An RBI double by Eischens in the fourth and Bade’s two-run double and Porozinski’s RBI triple during a four-run fifth capped off the win.

     Jordan McCollum went 5 for 5 with four runs and three RBI, Bade went 2 for 4 with three RBI, Porozinski went 2 for 4 with three RBI, Burlingame went 2 for 4 with three runs and Eischens went 2 for 3 to pace Park Rapids’ 18-hit attack.

     Tyler McCollum allowed one hit over the first four innings for the win while Eischens pitched the fifth as the two combined on a two-hitter.

     The sweep gave the Panthers an 11-1 record in the conference to tie Perham for the title. Park Rapids, which improved to 17-2 overall, now has a 12-game winning streak.

     C-I fell to 0-12 in the conference and 1-15 overall.

Panthers defeat Fergus Falls

     A four-run third inning helped the Panthers defeat Fergus Falls 9-4 on Monday.

     A double by Eischens, Brand’s bunt single, Bade’s two-run homer, Johnson’s single and Burlingame’s RBI double gave the Panthers a 4-1 lead in the third.

     Eischens walked and scored on Severtson’s sacrifice fly in the fourth before singles by Tyler McCollum, Brand and Jordan McCollum and a sacrifice fly by Severtson made it 7-1 in the fifth.

     Doubles by Bade and Johnson and an RBI single by Tyler McCollum pushed the lead to 9-1 in the sixth.

     Brand went 3 for 3, Bade went 2 for 3, Johnson went 2 for 4 and Tyler McCollum went 2 for 4 as the Panthers finished with 13 hits. Porozinski gave up one earned run on two hits over the first four innings for the win.

     Fergus Falls fell to 1-14 on the season.
