Roseau locked up the top seed for the upcoming Section 8A girls tennis tournament with a 4-3 win over Park Rapids Saturday at Crookston.

The Panthers should earn the No. 2 seed after defeating Crookston 4-3 in Saturday's first match. Roseau defeated Crookston 5-2 in the final match.

Park Rapids, which defeated Crookston by that same 4-3 score earlier in the season, ended the regular season with a 6-1 record against section teams and a 12-4 overall record. The section team and individual seedings will be announced later this week.

In the match against Crookston, Bailey LaCoursiere prevailed in straight sets at No. 1 singles, Julie Renner won in straight sets at No. 2 singles, Lydia Schaum prevailed in a tiebreaker at No. 3 singles, and Alyssa Carlson and Christina Smith won at No. 1 doubles to give the Panthers the win. Heidi Schaum lost in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 4 singles.

Roseau capped off an undefeated season against section opponents by edging the Panthers in the second match. Lydia Schaum won in straight sets at No. 3 singles, Carlson and Smith coasted at No. 1 doubles, and Karly Dickinson and Allie Girtz coasted at No. 2 doubles to lead the Panthers. Bonnie Baumgartner and Lexi Burlingame lost in a third-set tiebreaker. Roseau is rated No. 8 in the latest state Class A poll.
