Ryan O'Mara and Mark Bravo combined to allow only one goal as the Park Rapids-Menahga boys hockey team coasted to three wins last week.


O'Mara made 15 saves as the Panthers posted their first shutout of the season with a 5-0 win against Northern Lakes at Breezy Point last Tuesday night.

A seven-goal first period and Bravo's nine saves led the Panthers to an 8-1 win over Bagley/Fosston at Bagley Thursday night.

O'Mara recorded his second straight shutout as Park Rapids skated to a 5-0 victory against Kittson Central at Hallock Saturday afternoon.

Pete Stahnke's team carried a 10-4-1 record into Tuesday night's home game against Thief River Falls. The Panthers travel to Wadena-Deer Creek Thursday night.

Panthers blank Lightning

Dan Ricke's two goals and Tucker Coborn's two assists provided all the scoring the Panthers would need in a Mid-State Conference win over the Lightning.

Sam Coborn assisted on goals by Ian Johnson, Ricke and Levi Erickson as the Panthers claimed a 3-0 lead after the first period. Tucker Coborn also assisted on Ricke's power-play goal. Park Rapids held a 10-1 edge in shots in the opening period.

After a scoreless second period, Tucker Coborn capped off the scoring by assisting on Ricke's second goal of the game and tallying an unassisted goal in the third period. Sam Coborn also had an assist on Ricke's goal.

The Panthers held a 33-15 edge in shots on goal to improve to 3-1 against Mid-State Conference teams. Northern Lakes fell to 2-2 in the conference and 7-4 overall.

Panthers dominate Bagley

A 22-5 edge in shots in the opening period sparked the Panthers to a Section 8A win over Bagley/Fosston.

Johnson scored the game's first three goals for a hat trick and Tucker Coborn had two power-play goals as the Panthers jumped out to a 7-0 lead. McMorrow and Ricke also had goals in the first period. Sam Coborn had five assists while Kanten and Erickson had an assist each.

Jared Naeve set up Sam Coborn early in the second period for Park Rapids' final goal.

Bravo faced only 10 shots as the Panthers held a 44-10 advantage in shots. The loss dropped Bagley/Fosston to 0-5 in the section and 4-9 overall on the season.

Panthers shut out Bearcats

Another strong first period led the Panthers past Kittson Central in another section game.

McMorrow scored twice, including just before the buzzer, to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead in the first period. Park Rapids held a 12-4 edge in shots in the opening period.

Both teams fired 10 shots on net during a scoreless second period before the Panthers tallied three times in the final period to seal the win. Sam Coborn scored early in the third period and set up goals by Kanten and McMorrow, who also had an assist on Kanten's goal. McMorrow completed his hat trick with a power-play goal with 1:11 to play.

O'Mara faced 19 shots as the Panthers held a 38-19 edge in shots on goal. The win lifted Park Rapids to 4-1-1 in section play while the Bearcats fell to 4-3 against section teams and 7-4 overall.
