Panthers share Mid-State tennis title
The Park Rapids boys tennis team used first-place finishes at No. 4 singles, No. 1 doubles and No. 3 doubles to tie Staples-Motley for the Mid-State Conference title Thursday.
Scott Smith took first at No. 4 singles, Kirt Leadbetter and Ted Tiffany won the title at No. 1 doubles, and Mike Atneosen and Max Brown finished first at No. 3 doubles as the Panthers compiled 29 points to tie Staples-Motley for first place. Ryan Kent (at No. 1 singles) and Alex Renner (at No. 2 singles) added runner-up finishes for the Panthers, who followed with a 6-1 conference win over Detroit Lakes Friday.

Katie Kristofferson (88), Kirsten Erickson (93), Mindy Lawrence (94) and Mary Kading (95) carded their best rounds of the season as the Park Rapids girls golf team finished fourth at Thursday's United North Central Invitational at Blueberry Pines with a 370. That score was the lowest score for a Park Rapids girls golf team since 1981. The Panthers followed by carding a 387 to finish seventh at Saturday's Staples-Motley Invitational.
Cady Clinton threw a no-hitter and Brie Warne threw a three-hitter as the Park Rapids fastpitch softball team defeated Crosby-Ironton 10-0 and 25-2 in Mid-State Conference play Friday. The Panthers also defeated Bagley 4-3 Thursday.
Jake Heck threw a no-hitter and Derek Hanson hit two home runs and had seven RBI in leading Fergus Falls to a 16-0 win over Park Rapids Friday.
