Three wins in singles and three forfeits led the Park Rapids boys tennis team to its first victory of the season Thursday at the Deport Courts.

Alex Renner, Scott Smith and Mitch Fossen posted straight-set wins in singles to spark the Panthers to a 6-1 Mid-State Conference win over Wadena-Deer Creek.

Matt Sullivan won at No. 4 singles, Steven Osterman and Calvin Bateman won at No. 2 doubles, and Iain Wallace and Jaden Olson won at No. 3 doubles as W-DC had to forfeit those matches.

The win gives the Panthers a 1-0 record against conference teams and a 1-3 overall record in dual meets entering meets against Crookston and Perham Tuesday and East Grand Forks Wednesday.

No. 1 singles: Alex Renner, PR, over Corey Pettow 6-0, 6-2.

No. 2 singles: Scott Smith, PR, over Drew Larson 6-0, 6-0.

No. 4 singles: Matt Sullivan, PR, wins by forfeit.

No. 1 doubles: Mike Paavola/Austin Korkowski, WDC, over Chris Shaw/Jeff Dickinson 6-1, 6-0.

No. 2 doubles: Steven Osterman/Calvin Bateman, PR, win by forfeit.

No. 3 doubles: Iain Wallace/Jaden Olson, PR win by forfeit.
