The Park Rapids boys cross-country team had a solid showing at last Saturday's Milaca Mega Meet.

Park Rapids finished 11th out of 34 teams in the Class AA division with 325 points. Jake Waggoner led the Panthers by covering the 5,000-meter course in 17:43 to finish 38th overall. Zach Jewison was 64th in 18:18, Bailey Mueller finished 73rd in 18:31, Austin Carlson was 88h in 18:51 and Tanner Otterness took 92nd in 18:56 to round out the Panthers' team score. Brad Eischens (111th in 19:13) and Jacob Hays (138th in 20:14) completed Park Rapids' varsity team.

Perham, the top-rated Class A team in the state, won the team title with 30 points. No. 2-rated St. Cloud Cathedral was second with 52 points. Matt Welch of Proctor led the 174-runner field with a time of 15:18.

In the girls race, the Panthers fielded an incomplete team with Lora Remus (71st in 17:03), Morgan Olson (122nd in 18:20), Kaylee Hilmanowski (133rd in 18:40) and Jordyn Bynum (159th in 21:16) running varsity. Top-ranked St. Cloud Cathedral (107 points) topped No. 2-rated Esko (117 points) for the team title with St. Cloud Christian's McKenzie Holt leading the 167-runner field with a winning time of 14:12 over the 4,000-meter course.

Running for the Panthers in the boys junior varsity race were Jared Kantonen (237th in 20:42), Aaron Hamblin (284th in 21:05) and Cody Brumbaugh (364th in 21:59). There were 513 runners in the boys JV meet.

Issac Overmyer finished second in the Class AA 10th grade race with a time of 16:21. Tyler Breitweser finished 94th in 19:51, Matt Konshok was 155th in 20:47 and Adam Mackley took 177th in 21:18 for the Panthers out of 287 runners.

Park Rapids' Jacob Bridgman finished 226th out of 298 runners in the 9th grade boys meet with a time of 22:18. Zach Nelson took 166th out of 258 runners in the 8th grade boys meet with a time of 14:18 over 3,200 meters. Tanner Eischens (10th in 12:13) and Darien Simon (128th in 14:47) were among the 227 runners who competed in the 7th grade boys 3,200 race.

Six Park Rapids girls ran in the other races. Rebecca Hays took 170th out of 176 runners in the 10th grade race with a time of 24:07. Tayah Otterness (seventh in 15:54), Megan Olson (12th in 16:14) and Abby Mueller (51st in 18:13) were among the 145 runners in the 9th grade race. Madison Steffel (26th in 13:48) and Megan Jewison (171st in 16:26) were among the 223 runners in the 8th grade 3,200-meter race.

Nevis had four girls compete in the Class A race with Taylor Drury (140th in 19:31), Karly Drury (146th in 19:39), Jordan Walters (168th in 21:39) and Mattie Hjelseth (182nd in 22:37) among the 193 runners. United South Central's Emily Mantor took first in 14:34.

In the boys Class A race, Zach Miller (141st in 20:29) and Reed Bennett (181st in 26:27) competed for Nevis. Pelican Rapids' Cody Bekkerus took first out of the 181 runners in 16:24.
