Panthers get shut out by LOW's Lyon
One of the best goalies in the state shut out the Park Rapids-Menahga-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley boys hockey team for the first time this season in the regular-season finale Friday night.
Alex Lyon made 21 saves in leading Lake of the Woods to a 4-0 Section 8A victory. It was the sixth shutout of the season for Lyon, who has a 1.48 goals against average and leads the state with a .948 save percentage.

LOW held an 18-7 advantage in shots during a scoreless second period before goals by Jasper and Wade Holen concluded the scoring in the third period, which saw the Bears hold a 17-5 edge in shots on goal.
LOW, which defeated the Panthers 5-1 early in the season and finished with a 45-21 advantage in shots Friday night, improved to 8-3-1 against section teams and 16-6-3 overall.
Scott Smith finished with 41 saves for the Panthers, who fell to 5-8 in section games and 12-12-1 overall.
The Panthers received the No. 7 seed for the section playoffs and will play a quarterfinal game at No. 2 Thief River Falls Friday night at 6.
