     Detroit Lakes ended Perham’s 11-year reign as team champion while Park Rapids finished seventh at Saturday’s Section 8A gymnastics meet at Perham.

     The Lakers, who are rated No. 3 in the latest state Class A poll with a 148.567 average, won the section title with a 148.425 while the Yellowjackets settled for runner-up honors with a 146.80. Perham is rated No. 5 with a 145.342 average. Park Rapids, which finished seventh with a 98.10 team score last season, tallied a 108.15.

     Detroit Laker used a 38.35 in vault, a 37.80 in floor exercise, a 37.50 on uneven parallel bars and a 34.775 on balance beam to claim their first section title since 2002. Perham had the top score on beam with a 36.425.

     Park Rapids received a 32.00 in vault behind Taylor Drury’s 8.30, Olivia Fischer’s 8.10, Amy Klein’s 7.80 and Kayla Johnk’s 7.80. Detroit Lakes’ Allison Berg had the high mark of 9.675.

     In floor, Katie Eischens’ 7.80, Klein’s 6.80, Kylee Roy’s 6.40 and Nikki Eischens’ 6.30 led the Panthers to a 27.30 team score. Rachelle LeBlanc of Little Falls led the way with a 9.625.

     A pair of 7.05s by Klein and Katie Eischens, a 6.50 by Nikki Eischens and a 5.80 by Drury gave the Panthers a 26.40 on beam. LeBlanc took top honors with a 9.525.

     The Panthers tallied a 22.45 on bars with Drury’s 6.75, Roy’s 5.80, Klein’s 5.60 and Fischer’s 4.30 comprising the team score. Detroit Lakes’ Molly Lyngaas took first with a 9.775.

     LeBlanc repeated as the section all-around champion with a 38.025. Klein finished 17th with a 27.25 while Drury was 18th with a 26.60.

     The top-four finishers in each event advance to the state Class A meet, which will be held Friday and Saturday at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion.
