Chelsey Frydenlund's 13 kills helped the East Grand Forks volleyball team move above the .500 mark with a 25-22, 25-21, 25-13 win over Park Rapids in the regular-season finale Tuesday night at the Area High School gym.

The Panthers played well in Set 1 of this Section 8AA match on Seniors Night. A tip by Olivia Vaadeland and a pair of kills by Ashley Domino helped the Panthers to a 5-5 tie. EGF jumped out to a 14-9 lead before two spikes and a block by Vaadeland and two kills by Domino closed the gap to 18-17. A spike by Anna Grimes, a block by Vaadeland and Justine Rittgers, and a kill by Vaadeland tied the set at 20-20. A tip by Grace Bateman led to a 22-22 tie before the Green Wave won the next three points.

A spike by Bateman, a kill by Domino, a block by Vaadeland and an ace serve by Grimes gave the Panthers a 7-4 lead in Set 2. A tip by Rittgers made it 8-6 before EGF went on a 13-1 run. Ellen Abel served seven points to give the Green Wave a 19-9 edge. A kill by Grimes, a spike by Domino and three service points by Bateman helped the Panthers close the margin to 22-19 before EGF closed out that set.

Steph Huot served seven straight points as EGF jumped out to a 9-2 lead in Set 3. A kill by Domino, a tip by Rittgers, a spike by Mady Vaudrin, a kill by Vaadeland and a tip by Shania Johnson kept the Panthers within 23-13 before the Green Wave ended the match.

East Grand Forks improved to 14-13 while Park Rapids will enter the Section 8AA tournament with an 8-22 overall record.
