During the regular season, Frazee relied on outside shooting by hitting 10 of 27 3-pointers to spark a 53-44 win over the Park Rapids girls basketball team.

In the rematch Monday night, the Hornets relied on defensive pressure to produce easy baskets in building a 35-11 lead at the break en route to a 53-28 South Section 8AA playoff victory at Frazee.

Alexis Tappe's layup off the opening tip and 3-pointer set the tone as Frazee jumped out to a 12-2 lead with 13:46 to play in the first half. CarsonLee Christenson's jumper at the 15:46 mark produced the Panthers' only points in the early going.

After layups by Olivia Vaadeland and Christenson made it 12-6 at the 13:16 mark, the Hornets went on a 16-0 run to build a 28-6 cushion. Frazee made seven free throws and Tappe hit her second 3-pointer of the half to spark the Hornets.

Two free throws by Ashley Domino at the 4:12 mark ended Frazee's run while another layup by Christenson made it 29-11 with 2:14 to play. Tappe's layup off a steal ended the half as Frazee led 35-11.

The Panthers opened the second half with a 17-10 run as jumpers by Lydia Lutz, Vaadeland, Alyssa Carlson, Domino and Marisa Rittgers; a basket off a rebound by Christenson; and layups by Domino and Grace Bateman closed the gap to 45-28 with 5:50 to play.

Frazee closed the game with four straight layups to conclude the scoring and advance to the subsection quarterfinals.

Christenson (8), Domino (6) and Vaadeland (5) combined for 19 points to lead the Panthers, who end the season with a 0-25 record.

Tappe finished with 15 points and Katie McCorquodale added 10 points as the Hornets improved to 10-17.
